Work Experience – Initial excitement!

We were approached by the University of Hull to offer a mentoring scheme to “would be” commercial solicitors. The scheme is a great chance for current law students to see how a law firm works and also to help them decide which path they wish to choose. Eva was successful in her application and we cant wait to welcome her next week.

“Hi i’m Eva!

I’m currently studying Law at the University of Hull. I enjoyed school and went on to attend a local sixth form but afterwards, I decided to take some time off to really consider what I wanted my career to look like. After this break I decided to join university and was accepted onto the Law with Foundation Year degree. I had always had an interest in the law outside of education but when I joined University and paired my studies with this pre-existing interest was when my real passion for a legal career started.

The ultimate career goal for me is to become a solicitor but my immediate focus is to complete the final year or my degree and then go on to complete the Legal Practice Course. As someone who loves learning I would like to revisit my education later in life and I am quite fond of the idea of doing a PhD.

As a Hull local I feel it extremely important to give something back to my community, therefore alongside studying and working part-time, I volunteer in Hull and Beverley Courts with Citizens Advice which is extremely fulfilling work.

I applied to Ancora specifically as it is an approachable firm which is forward thinking in its use of technology to make the service easier for clients to access. Due to this I am excited to see how their system works from their perspective and to see how it impacts the work that they do. I am extremely looking forward to my time at Ancora Law and feel very grateful to have been given the opportunity to gain a personal insight into the workings of a commercial property firm, especially from someone like Matthew who has so much previous experience. I am sure this internship will be greatly beneficial to me and my own career and I hope that I am able to be a beneficial asset to the team over the coming weeks.”

We cant wait to get you on board Eva!
