Office Fusion in Hull’s Old Town for Local Tech Business

A building fusion has created an office fit for the post-pandemic era in Hull’s Old Town, Business Live reports. 43 Clicks North, a digital marketing specialist, wanted to create a ‘home from home’ with their new office development. Two buildings have been combined in the original city centre to form a characterful new workplace.

Developers Jenneson-Thompson purchased the Bishop Lane site during the first lockdown after spotting its potential. One of the two buildings was constructed between 1870 and 1900, while the other was built a century later in the 1980s. Previously, a building which was badly damaged in the Second World War stood on the site.

The developers have managed to sympathetically integrate the two buildings to create a workable office space. Previously, they have renovated the historic Salters House for RFD Interior Architecture.

Managing Director of 43 Clicks North, Mike Ellis, said that he wanted an office that would accommodate the doubling of his 17-strong workforce, in preparation for the relaunch of the DigiHull partnership, which operates with other agencies in the city.

Mr Ellis commented: “We knew Covid would bring challenges but we also knew people would return to work. I speak to a lot of business owners and the feeling I’m getting is that people want to be back in the office but at a safe distance, with the option of working from home as well.”

Mr Ellis added that the hybrid of home and office working is an approach that is being adopted by most of the big employers that they work with. He has created a homely feel to the office with different décor in each room, and avoided the standard open-plan layout.

Hull City Council provided support for the project, and the developers Jenneson-Thompson are exploring other opportunities in the area. They point out that the Old Town is an attractive and thriving area, combining start-ups, independent retailers, and several pubs.
